Tours, wildlife encounters, dining, and transport — arranged by our team
Tortuguero is one of the most important green sea turtle nesting sites in the Western Hemisphere. Each night from July to October, hundreds of giant green turtles haul out of the ocean to lay eggs. Our certified local guides lead small groups to witness this extraordinary spectacle. A minimum distance is maintained to ensure the turtles are undisturbed.
Includes:

Tortuguero is world-renowned for its tarpon fishing. The canals and lagoons hold massive Atlantic tarpon, snook, and snapper. Our fishing tours use local boats with experienced guides who know every productive spot. Whether you're an experienced angler or a first-timer, this is an unforgettable experience.
After dark, Tortuguero's jungle comes alive with nocturnal creatures. Walking the beach and forest paths with a local guide, you'll spot red-eyed tree frogs, sleeping iguanas, hunting caimans by their glowing eyes, night herons, and possibly the elusive ocelot or kinkajou. An entirely different side of the jungle.
Explore the primary canals of Tortuguero National Park by boat — the best way to see the park's famous wildlife at close range. The boats are small and quiet, allowing you to get within metres of sloths, monkeys, toucans, herons, and even river otters. This tour covers more ground than any walking tour.
We arrange comfortable shuttle transfers between Hotel Serendipity and both San José (SJO) and Liberia (LIR) airports. The transfer includes the scenic boat ride through the jungle canals — itself an experience worth savoring. All transfers can be booked directly with our front desk.
Our on-site restaurant serves authentic Caribbean cuisine with a focus on fresh local ingredients. Our chef — a Tortuguero native — creates dishes inspired by the flavors of the Limon province: rice and beans in coconut milk, fresh catch of the day, Caribbean-style chicken, and vibrant tropical desserts. American, vegetarian, and vegan options available.
Tortufest is Tortuguero's annual festival celebrating the end of the green turtle nesting season. Three days of concerts, traditional Caribbean dancing, school performances, a boat parade on the river, local art, food stalls, and the warmth of the entire village community. An incredibly special cultural experience.
Our front desk team will arrange all tours and activities for you upon arrival or in advance. Just let us know what you'd like and we'll take care of everything. Many experiences are also available as part of our Stay & Tour packages (see Packages page).
